Sanitation and Hygiene
At Polished, our steadfast dedication to hygiene is more than a slogan. Considerations with respect to sanitation are incorporated into every aspect of every Polished Spa, from our approach to facility design, to our policies and daily procedures. While many salons struggle, and often fail, to meet standards set by regulatory agencies, our self-imposed Polish Standards not only exceed those mandated, but set standards not contemplated by regulations.
- What’s That Smell? What smell? The only smell you smell is fresh air. What you don’t smell is that old nail salon chemical smell. That’s because designed into every Polished Spa is specialized air filtration equipment that removes offensive odors before they reach your nose, hair, and clothing. Ahhhhh.
- Advanced Sterility. All tools used in services undergo the highest technologically-available level of sterilization before every use, and are only removed from their sealed sterilized pouch immediately prior to use. This sterilization process, the same used by surgeons and dentists to prepare their instruments, is called Autoclaving, a system that heats the tools to an extreme temperature to effectively kill 100% of all bacteria, and which is recommended by the AMA, FDA, and EPA.
- Die, Scum, Die! We have selected as our pedicure chairs the only chairs available with Silver Nanospheres embedded in all foot tub surfaces, a state-of-the-art technology that effectively eliminates 100% of bacterial and viral presence. We chairish good hygiene.
- Freshen My Water, Please. Our whirlpool pedicure foot tubs incorporate Pipeless Technology, a system whereby fresh water is deployed for every service, and which contains no unseen pipes that circulate old water with new. Not just a pipe dream.
- Tubba Tubba! Our pedicure foot tubs are drained, scrubbed, and disinfected prior to every use; undergo a daily disinfectant flush; and regular overnight disinfectant flushes, all recorded in chair-specific logs. Additionally, seats, seat backs, and frames of pedicure chairs are wiped down and disinfected prior to every use.
- Zero Towelerance Policy. No dirt; no soil; no stain; only fresh when it comes to towels used in connection with our services. Every Polished Spa has an on-site commercial grade laundry to insure consistent cleanliness and freshness of all towels, cloths, and linens. We’ve turned the Tide against dirt.
- Wash It Now, Buddy. Not only do our service technicians wash and disinfect their hands and don new gloves before each service, our Guest Services Staff and Spa Mangers regularly wash and disinfect theirs.
- Clean Freaks. In addition to regular after-hours cleaning and periodic professional deep cleaning, Polished staff maintain a constant vigilance with respect to general housekeeping and facility cleanliness, including near-perpetual wiping and disinfecting of all surfaces.

Starbucks founder Howard Schultz said that Starbucks is not in the coffee business serving people, but in the people business serving coffee. Similarly, we believe that Polished is also in the people business, but providing nail services. We honor two very important groups of Polished People.

Yes, we could well justify setting premium price points for our services, prices that reflect the luxury setting of a Polished Spa, the superior quality of the services themselves, the technicians who provide them, and the products we use, as well as the engaging customer experience facilitated by our dedicated Guest Services Staff. But, we don’t; rather, we choose to employ strategies that put Polished services comfortably within reach of most nail service customers, and at price points comparable to those seen in many small generic salons. The Polished Membership, for example, greatly reduces the prices of all Polished services at any time of any day of the week, while regular special offers make even greater savings available during certain days and times. We’ll happily give you that silk purse for the price of a sow’s ear. Why? Because we can.
Our World
We strive to exist harmoniously with our planet. Our award-winning nail polishes contain no harmful ingredients, such as Toluene, DBT, or Formaldehyde. In fact, ingredients in all the products we use are carefully evaluated to ensure that they are beneficial to your skin and body and that they are environmentally friendly. We care about our environment and seek to minimize our footprint through steps that include:
- Use of natural and organic ingredients whenever possible
- Elimination of harmful ingredients, such as Toluene, DBT, and Formaldehyde
- Use of recycled materials, as in the manufacture of Polished gift bags
- Use of electrical energy produced from wind power
Additionally, Polish pursues an extensive agenda of charitable giving within our community, including direct support of educational, medical, environmental, and social services organizations.
